Documenting your day in an artistic way!

I love what I do. I am honored to have the privilege to spend the day with couples who are looking for artistic and documentary style photos that represent who they are as individuals, as well as the magic they create as a couple.

Samantha + Dean ~ Engagement Session

Fells Point is an amazing place to do some fun and different engagement shots. Samantha  + Dean are getting married in September of this year and they are very patient and understanding people. I say this because while we were taking some pics in a parking lot - I tripped over one of those cement blocks in parking spots, camera up to my face. Now - being a photographer sometimes comes with bodily risks - you are composing and looking for perfect light all while paying attention to what you see through the camera - not necessarily what your legs are up to. They were up to no good and I tripped and slid down a brick wall and Samantha + Dean had first row seats. Thank goodness Samantha works in an ER and helped me feel covered if I needed any major help, like getting an arm back in the socket for example. I did not need that - just a few band aids that we got from The Green Turtle - (they have a whole First Aid Kit that is amazing!) I saved my camera from any major damage and we just went right on shooting. Wow I'm good! I think I remember getting an A in "How to not damage your camera while tripping over something during a shoot" in school - so I was prepared! Thanks Sam + Dean for being so understanding!! Their pics turned out really cute!

Annapolis Wedding | Aida + Matt

Aida + Matt had their ceremony at St. Mary's church in Annapolis, one of my favorite churches in the Annapolis area. It was a cloudy and misty day - and we lucked about because the rain held off until after their reception had started. I love these kind of days - the soft enveloping light is very inspiring to me. It works so well in regards to wedding photography - everything looks like was draped in clouds of cotton. I love shooting next to the water on these kinds of days, the mist out of focus leaves the background soft and milky. We stopped on the way to their reception at a flower shop in Annapolis that I always pass by and think to myself  "this would be a great backdrop for a bride + groom!" So this day, luck was with us when we pulled up and jumped out of the limo to take a few colorful and funky shots. Then, when we arrived at the reception we got a few family shots by the water before the rain started. Aida loves yoga - so she had each table designated as a certain pose, with chandeliers hung from an amazing tent to light up dinner. The reception was at the Podickery Yacht Club in Annapolis - not too far from the Bay Bridge which you could see from the water's edge. Good friends of ours, Karin + Peyton from Encounters Events - created an oasis by the bay! An amazing day from start to finish - congrats Aida + Matt!

Baltimore Country Club Wedding | Bridget + Derek

I love it when I feel like a member of the family when I arrive at the bride's house or hotel room where she is getting ready. I hadn't met the bride before the big day because both Bridget and Derek live in Manhattan - just her mom Patty who I absolutely loved the minute I met her. You can tell alot about a family from one member - I knew that this was a fun loving - goofy and extremely close one. Never mind that they are also amazingly attractive which made my job such a pleasure! Their ceremony was at The Shrine of the Sacred Heart Church in Baltimore, then they had their reception at Baltimore Country Club which is one of my favorite places to shoot. I love all the nooks and crannies there. The details of the wedding were incredible and I loved the kelly green bridesmaid dresses - not a popular color but it really was very flattering on all the girls! They even had a basket of flipflops for the girls when they got to the reception that matched the dresses.

Bridget and Derek just completely get eachother, and I love photographing that. They both have amazing senses of humor and really enjoyed their day - which is so important - to really look around, appreciate and take it all in.  Remember to realize how amazing it is that your friends and family have gathered to celebrate such an amazing day with you. If there is one peice of advice that I could give to my future brides and grooms - that would be it! :)
